MEASHA joins Chris Hadfield, Emily Haines, Gord Downie, Ron Sexsmith in tribute to Lou Reed!

singing "Perfect Day" by Lou Reed

I had the most incredible time last night. In addition to being able to sing “Perfect Day” with Kevin Hearn and the rest of Lou Reed’s band, I believe this was an incredible night of collaboration. The compositions of Lou Reed were like a perfume in the air, enveloping us all in celebration of his awesomeness. Happy Birthday, Lou.

Lou Reed would have been 72 on Sunday.

Porgy and Bess with Opera de Montreal

It’s opening night of Porgy and Bess tonight with Opera de Montreal. I’m extremely excited to be singing the role of Bess…but also quite terrified. Keep your fingers crossed that I’ll remember where to go and when. Ha! Toi toi toi to the rest of my amazing colleagues in this production!

Just a thought

“I think when you’ve done anything for a long time, you’re always seeking for ways to re-engage in a process which is rewardingly familiar, but also challenging to keep fresh.I would have been a singer whether I’d set out to be an classical singer, a beat poet, or a town crier. The use of the body as a sounding board has always fascinate me – particularly when it’s put to good use for inspiration, philosophical or spiritual communication, or as an instrument for protest and change. I just wanna be firing on all cylinders – and then take apart those cylinders, dissect them, re-invent them, and then fire’m again! Ha! (And whew.)” -Measha
